BFCM Last Minute Survival Guide, Part 2: Build Your Landing Page
TL;DR
Build one simple page: headline, 3 benefits, offer block, FAQ, proof (testimonials or reviews), and a big CTA. Clarity and brevity wins. Too much information can actually hinder the reader’s ability to choose.
Wireframe
You don’t have to be a pro and you don’t need to draw out intricate wireframes with a sharpie on a sketchpad. Just follow this basic wireframe (outlined structure of a webpage) and continue on with your day.
Headline: Lead with the benefit. Here’s an example: “Get [RESULT] without [PAIN POINT]—Friday only.” This is clear, specific, and easier to quickly scan and then make a decision.
3 Benefits: Use bullets and, once again, be concise. Outcome is more important than Feature here. What are the results/benefits of using the product, not a list of the product’s features.
Offer Block: Here you can get more into specifics. What’s included, price/limits, and when the deal ends. Deadlines create a sense of urgency.
FAQ: Now think about the questions or missing information that might prevent someone from committing right now. If you can answer that question right away, you might get a conversion when you otherwise would not.
Proof: 2-3 longer testimonials or before/afters, or a carousel showing off abundant positive reviews.
CTA: Be specific, like “Book Now” or “Get the Bundle.” CTA’s specific to their function perform better, so instead of “BUY” you can try, “Get the Guide” or “Buy the Viral Dress.”
It’s critical that your website be mobile-friendly. Most people do their shopping from their phone.
Mobile Checks
Spend a couple minutes reviewing the mobile version of your landing page. More likely than not, the majority of your visitors will be on mobile devices, which means the mobile version is actually MORE important than the desktop version. Here’s the checklist:
Button is visible without scrolling
Text is legible (this is 14px or 16px minimum for max readability)
Images are not blocking the CTA
Key info near the top
Stay Tuned for Part 3
Up next: Two short emails, an optional SMS, and three social posts you can copy or use as inspiration.
